After the rest yesterday time to turn the legs over. Woke up with the alarm @ 6am this morning and felt like crap, probably a combination of too much chat and wine last night which saw me late to bed. Opted to roll over instead of heading out. Packed the running gear to take to work so if I perked up I could hit the gym.
As it happens I did perk up and wandered over to the gym. On the way my errr "running injury" felt a little tight but once I got cracking on the treadmill everything fell into place. The gym was pretty packed but was thinning out. After warming up cranked the machine up to 3:55 pace and then proceeded to work my way through the reps.
Got to end of rep 7 and was starting to feel a little woozy (did not have lunch before the session and it was 1:30!) and I also had some work committments that I needed to be back for so did the warm down and called it a day. Thus the session was 7 x 1Km @ 3:55 with 1:52 standing recovery. Pretty happy with the way the body was feeling after Sunday's effort. Tomorrow I'll do a 10km recovery run in the morning and then stretch out for Summer Series which is at Blackman Park, Lane Cove West, some bush for sure and hills, but not as bad as last week.
Thanks for the comments and support, I really wasn't beating myself up too much. Just more a good reality check on what I was capable of at Canberra so I did not blow up halfway through the race.

Gday Dave
I just had a quick look at your blog and am glad to see that you have been pragmatic about sundays effort in the big scheme of things. I saw Claries comments and she made a lot of sense. I think that your goal of sub 3 will require a lot more of your focus, you do have a lot on your plate!
Those intervals sounded good, I couldnt have managed today thats for sure! I try and mix them up at present but with the marathon in mind, look to longer (min 1km) efforts. Be really blinkered about your own goals, dont worry about whats happening peripherally(sp) with others. I thought your run on Sunday was really solid, in particular off no taper and in the humidity. Catch up soon.
I also think you did really well, Dave! LL
